Hi question on original oil painting from 1879..

Has anybody heard of a painter Arthur Stocks? I have an original oil piece great condition from him from 1879 called "Sermon Time" just was wondering if there was any value in it thanks again.

There are 2 prints or "Sermon Time" listed on eBay. Please post of photo of what you have.

I did a quick search seen he had some copy's being sold for a pretty good amount, thought i would come on here and see if anybody was familiar or actually have or collect his work.

A print is a generic term for something that is made in a reproducible format, but a fine art print is made specifically for the chosen medium. Fine art prints are original works of art in their own right. They are not simply copies of an original.

Like i said im a noob, i no nothing about art oil painting finger paintings. Its not worth thousands and thousands but its still worth something.

 

You have a genuinely old mass produced print. The "Certificate of Authenticity" on the back is some retailer's attempt to glorify a rather mundane antique. As you said, it is still worth something but it can not be evaluated alongside original works of art by this artist.
