Hiya, im new here ( well...Obviously!!)
And for the most part i would like to sound out some information on the many things my late grandmother in law has in this house, for the purposes of telling my father in law more information so he decides what do do with the items.. but I've been interested in antiques for a while now thanks to my mothers interest and my love of the roaring 20s!

I would appreciate it if somebody could tell me which forum i go to if i would like some more info or opinions on an item i find that i cant figure out? Thanks very much!

    Welcome!

AJ has given you a great set of links so I'll just add a note of encouragement.

I'm from the generation before yours, but came here on a similar mission -- trying to find out more about a bunch of stuff left by people who are no longer available to ask. It's been fascinating so far. Antiquers is a friendly corner of the web and you'll almost certainly get kind and helpful answers to your questions.

Those answers will be most helpful if you can give context and share background information, to the extent that you have it. Post pictures that show marks or labels. Show the backs of paintings and jewellery and the bases of glass or china items. Tell us if something has been in the family for decades and if you can narrow it down to a region, country or even just continent then please do so!

Good luck and I look forward to seeing some of your in-laws' stuff!

Aww thank you for this very friendly reply, i have al;ready posted one item, my GMIL ( gransmother in law) was well travelled as an RAF wife, so there are many weird and wonderful things here, the main purpose for me, is to learn more about the items, and make sure any home insurance is covering them, but ultimately its my father in laws choice about the items!!

im sorto of okay at hallmarks but obviously not everything has hallmarks, so im so so so grateful for any info folks can give me!!

and make sure any home insurance is covering them..........

that's all about fair market prices......& we don't do values here...for the most part...

hopefully we can point u in the right direction for u to arrive at the right prices.
