Hi, Two Items...Mexican or Native American?

Hi everyone!
I purchased this huge pottery charger. I was told it was from the 1930s-1940s. Probably not true but this is what I was told about it. Looking for the real age and origin of this piece. Also a small 5" x 3" purse/basket...don't know if it's old or the origins of this either.

The pottery is Mexican. The basket may be Mexican, or from somewhere else, but definitely isn't Native American.

I'd think it would date to the 1970s or newer.

 

I like the charger. The image is taken from Maya murals or codices. So I would say the origin is any of the Maya regions. Those include a part of Mexico, but let's not forget the Maya countries of Guatemala, Honduras, Belize.
I agree with Taupou on the date, no older than 1970s, probably newer.
