If I only I had a dollar for every hour that I have searched and searched and searched on the net trying to find out information on anything old and collectable. I have acquired some lovely pieces over the years that have been handed down through the family, and I have also bought some interesting lots over the years. I usually only buy or acquire things that I like, It’s not really a money making venture, more an enjoyment factor. I believe that as a caretaker for some beautifully crafted antiques that I have been fortunate to have in my home that this new generation of kids just don’t get it. They are generally not interested, so I would rather sell a piece to someone else who is going to get the enjoyment from it. I like to be informed on what I actually have, and it’s really annoying to see sales where the seller has no idea what they are selling.

Anyway,, that’s about it in a nutshell for me ! I’m a learner, but keen to do that.

    Cheers for now,

    Welcome Misha!
I like your saying about being the caregiver for your antiques!:)
I think antiques we love are like cats... we don’t own them, they own us!:joyful::cat:
Ah... And I’m certain that some pieces appealed and choosed me:wideyed: (going to big antique fairs, walking from booth to booth and suddenly enter one, pick a box under piles of junk and... Bam!)

Misha welcome. When you sell your lovelies, the new person/family will treasure them for years to come. I too came here to find out about what I have and have enjoyed the experience immensely. There are some real knowledgeable folks here. Some suggestions - follow the instructions about resizing your photos to under 1MB and expanding them all to full image once you upload them. https://www.antiquers.com/threads/posting-a-thread-and-uploading-pictures.15990/ or from your phone email them to yourself using size medium. Put your items in the right forum and wait around as many are from different time zones. If you want to signal a specific expert for help, use the @ and starting typing their name.

    Hi AJ,
That stash of broken china reminded me of my huge rock garden in my old house. I had bushel baskets of broken china all blue and white. I planted a lot of the china in loose fills around the plants. When I moved I forgot all about the rock garden. The new owners just filled the sloped garden with dirt and planted grass over it. The newest owners bought the house and were exploring the back. They started to dig and found a lot of broken pottery. They thought it was the site of an old dump. A newspaper clipping sent to me by a friend told telling about the wonderful old dump found in a back yard. I always wondered about how deep that garden was dug up before they realized what it really was.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hi Greg, that sound wonderful, I bet it looked beautiful and brightened up every rainy day.
The latest owners thinking they excavated a china dump is hilarious.:D

    Greetings Misha......

as u can see from the posts above this thread has already gone off the rails.
Why....because we're a community of like minded folks who enjoy each others company and tall tales of adventure and misadventure.
We are also the best site on the net to help identify a vast array of items brought before us.......& if we don't know....we know those that do....or the stuff ain't worth knowing from the get go.
We have thousands of members who come once...twice...& are never seen again.....and a solid core of members who are here most days.

We leave it up to you , to choose where you fit in !:):):)
