How old is this Asian cup? Chinese or Japanese

    Got this piece which looks like a rice cup?. I think it Chinese but not sure as I've been wrong before with these asian things.

    It looks like it could have some age to it. It also looks a bit crude to me so maybe provencial or street vendor?

    Has only a few characters on the sides

    Any info/input translation is welcome.
