I purchased this on Craigslist with the intent to paint. When I got it home it was in such beautiful condition that I needed to know more about it. It has no marks of maker. I’m more interested in the age. Can anyone help?

    1930s buffet or thereabouts.
Many of the early furniture companies didn't mark they products.

If you paint, which I hope you don't, you won't be able to strip the paint off without ruining the veneer. And it is lovely veneer. Someone treasured this and took good care of it.

Think more 20s than 30s but certainly in that range. Walnut. Loosely base on William and Mary design. This one is too nice to paint. Find a beat up one to paint. There are a lot of them out there.

Yep, agree with all above, the legs are called "trumpet", popular in the W&M period.

Usually i am a BIG FAN of paint decorated furniture but in this case i have to go with above posters on your piece, it's a poor candidate for paint for reasons stated above.

I like painted furniture also, but not in this case. Clutter is right, someone took VERY good care of it, and it is just about ready to become an Antique.

You will be amazed at how it will work with other furniture!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    Welcome to Antiquers, @AprilBrandy !

It's beautiful, as others have said. :) And I also would suggest not painting it.

It would be a shame to paint over those bookended drawers. I'm in the process of restoring an antique dresser and was amazed to find burled maple veneer underneath decades of black paint! You have a beautiful piece, find a buyer who appreciates it for what the original artists created it as.

Wow! My grandparents had a piece just like that (except that their toy poodle refinished the feet) :hilarious:

Does the left cabinet have a felted serving tray in it?

Thank you for the information! I bought it on Craigslist for $175, and never expected it to be in such beautiful condition at that price. I love it and will cherish it as is.

The top drawer has a felted tray. I bought this piece on Craigslist for $175, and never expected it to be in such beautiful condition. I’ve always wanted one, and will happily keep this piece as is!

Thank you for your input! Craigslist can be hit or miss. This was a steal for $175, and I will happily keep it as is. I noticed the unusual keyhole type drawer joint. Does this make it “newer” than 20’s or 30’s? Also, the drawer pull is stamped with a number, I’ve not seen hardware with a stamp. Thank you again!
