    there is a mark on back.. soon as phone charges I'll add more.. definitly sterling

    It looks like an artisan piece, most likely made any time in th last 10 years or so, JMHO.

    How did you test it for sterling? Magnet?
    It just doesn't look very refined for jewelry.
    I don't fish, but my first thought was for fishing.

    Either that or you could hang it from a chain, maybe that is the way it is supposed to hang.
