I can't find an example of these prints [or the signature] anywhere :(

I'm pretty sure they are prints. But don't know how to tell for sure. They each stand 30"h x 10"w. On real wood boards [heavy], and the 'signature' reads CM*LXIII [could that be the year?] I can't find a thing about them. Anyone?

They're copied from a series of botanical illustrations, not sure which, but someone else will find it. These illustrations were in book form - and many were reprinted in the 60's and 70's (I think.) I used fabric put out in the 70's to make drapes for my dining room and a matching apron.

That was quick Bakersgma! You're amazing! Geez...when I first brought them home [months ago] I saw an example on Ebay. Someone in Mexico had sold a smaller size pair, and now I can't seem to find. But then again maybe it's Me - not sure what to look for exactly.

These were "decoupaged" onto the wood and certainly would not be originals. The original art of this type would have been printed (etched?) and compiled into book form probably a couple hundred years ago? Maybe even longer, I think one of the French King Louis's (which one I don't know) commissioned an artist to create a series for him.

Note that the CM LXIII (roman numerals for 63) are the same on each one.

I "think" the "year" might be 1958. ;)

    With apologies to Dr. A . . . . z . . . er (whose classes I always enjoyed) if I am wrong. :shame:

They all appear to have an X, yourturn. X=10.

Hemster - I am beginning to believe that these are not copies of much older botantical illustrations, but rather were created for this purpose (and possibly for use on other modern decor items.) They are certainly "in the style of" those much older works, but they don't have the "scientific illustration" qualities of the originals.

You are absolutely correct, Bakersgma, it is "1963" and it's a good thing I apologized to Dr. A from the get-go! :shame:

If you don't mind me asking, if I were to present them at auction, what would I call them? That's where I get stumped. Especially with the pieces I can't find info on.
I have to move some of these pieces. I thank you Muchly!! :joyful:

The CM are above the roman numerals and in red as opposed to gold. They look more like a monogram than part of the numbers.

I agree with komo - decorative wooden panels.

Ok -- back to just 63, then... no century given!

At this rate, someone better be trying to locate a "B.C." or an "A.D." (no matter how either is portrayed). ;)

Does it mean anything if all the signatures are different? And the wood...anyone know how to tell how old, old wood is? There are also these tiny random holes, Bugs?

Hemster, are you talking about the names of the plants at the bottom of each panel?
