Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I couldn't find any "age" comps on the first two (each 16" x 24") which are alike and in about the same "tender" condition with rough edges, so not positive WW I, but the last two are definitely WW I as I did find only a couple of comps for them!! My question/s is/are they still collectible posters?? The third poster down of the nurse is 18" x 22" and the last one of the soldier is 16" x 24". Another question I have is I understand some people 'linen line' the backs to preserve them, but does that hurt the potential (IF ANY!) value of them?? Thank you, as ALWAYS! for anything you can suggest or offer about them!!! Oh, ALSO, are they even worth TRYING to preserve them!!!??

Oh how neat ! I think the nurse is also WW1 . Im sure theres a market for them somewhere. WW1 collectors,Red Cross collectors, etc. Id let the buyer worry about restoring them.

@johnnycb09, I'm assuming you're referring to the 3rd nurse down? And thank you, I think they're great, but just can't keep them rolled up on a shelf forever!!

    Very cool, Aqui!

This site says 1917 on the first poster, but this one says the artist, Lu Kimmel, was born in 1905.

Was this another collectible from your mom? She had such cool things.

They definitely have resale value. If the ultimate goal is to sell, if you back them with linen, you'd have to recoup your restoration costs, etc. and someone else might prefer unaltered, but not sure.

Makes me think of an Antiques Roadshow episode where they say, value is $3K, but if you spent $1K with restoration you are probably looking at a value of $7K. (Which I could NEVER figure out!)

Maybe a poster guy/gal can give thoughts.

Here's a rabbit hole for you from the Library of Congress - 1907 images of WWI posters - there's a search function, so maybe you'll find yours with more information.

I didn't look, but I assume there's pages for WWII posters as well.

Yes, @Lucille.b, DH & I were married less than a year, as I recall, and Mom had bought a smallish property.....but the deceased individual was apparently a "hoarder" of sorts.....you name it and we were either saving it or taking stuff to the dump.....don't remember how long it took us to finish, but it was a good part of a summer....just Mom, DH and myself......hard work but so much fun with the surprises we found!! It was "The summer we ate out every night" (while doing the clean-out) and had lobster every night! Nobody wanted to cook after each day of that!!!:happy::):joyful:

@sabre123, THANK YOU for those links!!! Going to follow 'HERITAGE' for sure!! Already bookmarked!! My thoughts, and looking at some differences in the nurses' uniforms, made me think the two first posters were probably WW II.....we hopefully will see!!!
