I am working on a cemetery restoration project and two of the "gravestones" are made out of enameled tin. I have never seen that before and was wondering if anybody here is familiar with them and what the date range for them might be. The plaques that probably had the information on them are stainless steel, but all the info is gone. Screen Shot 2023-06-26 at 9.31.53 PM.jpg

I find it hard to believe there was ever anything on them, look unmarked

    Enamel melts well above tin
You will never see enameled tin

Almost certainly enameled steel...or sheet iron.

A dollar two ninety-eight plus tax and an old refrigerator door.

They appear to have been there a little while judging by the tarnish at the corners of the metal plaque. There appears to have been some script on them, if you enlarge the left hand one you can sort of make out the outlines of the letters. It appears to be a type of plastic foil that had the script on, now faded away, and the elements have got in under the corners of the foil.
    Animal gravestone perhaps?

    What a grave situation................

Thanks! Yes, depending on the lighting, you can see ghosts of some lettering.
If it ever stops raining here, I want to visit them in the darkness of night to see if a UV light will reveal anything.

Am imagining! You better have a different cover story, because this one sounds...a tad wacky! :)
