I have two Ginger jars, one has an underlying 5 on the top, ideas on origin?

Discussion in 'Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain' started by Elizabeth Brushia, Nov 19, 2023.

  1. These Ginger jars appear to be matching, but they feel slightly different in weight and one has an underlying blue 5, I’m still trying to learn the shapes for each era.. not sure the origin. The underside is glazed In the middle and appears like it could have had a sticker, so my guess is a larger production of Chinese transfer ware.. input is appreciated

They look Japanese to me, with that fan shape. The shade of blue also looks Japanese. Not antique imo.
