Hi all . I was at the hoodwill today and though I never look at bagged silverware something caught my eye. I splashed out $7 and took a chance. I think Im glad I did ! I found 1 sterling,1 800,and 2 that I swear are silver but dammed if I have found the marks . As always, all input is appreciated.

The pattern on the Norwegian pieces is 'Flat Rose', the tower is Th. Marthinsen's silverplate mark (the other is '830S')...

You did fine, Johnny, I would have happily paid $7 for the bag (that's a classic Norwegian pattern, made with slight variations by different makers) - I'm limited on my phone while out and about, but believe the Int'l Silver spoon is 'Joan of Arc'...

He's the Silver Whisperer for sure ! I aspire to be as good as him when Im grown.Every time Ive flown blind its not been a smashing success ,but hope springs eternal. The hoodwill I found this at is the same one Ive pulled quite a bit of sterling from,it wasnt unthinkable they might have flubbed.

I’m flattered Johnny, but more than that I’m soooo happy you found treasure and sooo happy you shared on the forum :) :) :) :). This was a pleasant surprise at the end of my day! I hope your next one is a monster, but every find is fun! These are really cool patterns!

My grandmother's service was plate. She could well afford sterling, but she confessed to me that she had never found a "real" pattern that she liked as well.

I have a penchant for old-fashioned names (Florence, Hortense, etc.). When I find a piece so engraved, I don't much care if it is sterling or plate.

Forgot to mention that the 1919 'Erindring' engraved on the Flat Rose spoon means 'Remembrance', common on Norwegian souvenirs...
