I bought this necklace for 25 euros and I'm beginning to doubt it was a good purchase. I haven't been able to find one like it online; on all the others I view, the squash blossoms point outward. It's pretty heavy at around 40 grams, but now I'm worried it's not authentic or even silver. It has no marks.16.5 inches long.

Strange piece,I have never seen a NA made piece with a woven chain.

And that was BarnOwl's first mistake.

I don't know why I do this to myself. I should just stick with what I know (or suspect).

It seems substantial and good quality, but I'm not a very good judge of that...

It is very nice quality, barn. Unusual, and I would guess Southwest but not NA.
If it is sterling, 25 euros was not too much. So not what you thought, but certainly not an expensive mistake either.
Now invest in a silver test kit.:pompous::D

    I certainly hope it's sterling.

I plan to get one when I return to the US. I didn't want to buy one here, just to have to toss it in a few months. :)

Tighten this up so it doesn't come loose.

    Does a magnet stick?
Polish it and check around the wear spots.

    I like it.
    It's different.

    Non-magnetic.

Thank you for pointing that out. I didn't notice it was loose.

I'm not the expert some of the ladies are.
In my experience, the necklaces on chain - the chains are usually sterling.
    Not sure about the beads.

Any of you old hippies think this looks like something from the 1960-70s shops, with batik fabrics, Indian (Not NA) baskets, etc.

My two bits are that hook & eye, or hook in hook closures are very typical of NA necklaces I have seen. And I don't know how a necklace made with all silver beads would have been strung in the past, but using chain makes a lot of sense, as metal beads will quickly saw through anything that isn't also metal. Maybe a newer example following traditional design?

    No, but I was only a semi-hippie.

I think barn bought this in Germany, and overthere interest in SW jewellery only started ca 1980. I worked for a while in the first German gallery to sell SW NA jewellery, in Düsseldorf.

I wouldn't give up on this one just yet....
I've seen the metal twist rope..... & the hook is not an unknown variety ....

About an hour by train. I haven't been there yet. Would you recommend visiting it?

    Uhmmmm.
No offence to the Krefelders. It is perfect for shopping for small size shoes and clothes. It also has the Museum Haus Lange/Haus Esters, by Mies van der Rohe.
