Animal cruelty, it's what Britain is famous for. This depicts the common practice of overloading horses.

It also depict cruelty to innocent clay, perpetuated by some fiend in a smock and sandals with a kiln in their garage, and even though it was obviously made for American tourists, who usually qualify for some really horrible tat, this goes far beyond what the Geneva Tourist Convention permits to be offered on the open market.

Words cannot express how much better the planet would be if that abomination were returned to beneath the tectonic plate from which its materials originated, to rejoin the firey magma in a state of innocence.

Please never find out who made it or I will be obliged to go and make sure they never do it again.

lol, I'm not sure, are you saying you don't like it? As my DH says about all my collectibles, he would like them better if he could use them for target practice and then back he goes making some thing plastic on his 3D printer.

GUNNS GALLERY - Will Young Pottery
    WILL YOUNG FIGURES

Will Young was a potter who worked from a studio at Runnaford near Widecombe where in light of his surroundings produced a range of pottery figurines which depicted various characters from the 'Uncle Tom Cobley' legend along with smugglers and rustics. He died in 1995

The family tradition was carried on by Will's son Alan who worked from a pottery in France producing the Widecombe figurines. Alan Young died in January 2011.

These unique sculptures of pirates, smugglers and yokels have been collected by enthusiasts in many countries around the world.

    "Fine Art"??? Oh lordy.

I guess this proves there's no accounting for taste.

I actually like Martin Bros stuff. The birds had a brooding intensity, this thing exhibits what might be called 'negative artistry', it actually sucks enjoyment out of the space around it.

Being tied up and whipped and paying high prices for this pottery are two sides of the same perverse coin.

    Hi Johnny,
Years ago I bought six dead flys. They had knitted sweaters on. Some women in Guatemala were knitting them to make money. They must have gone blind doing that tiny closeup work. I had them framed but I do not remember if I sold them or gave them away. Talk about quirky:p

The poor pottery, frozen into position in a kiln in that position. People liked those big-eyed kid pictures too, once upon a time. There's no accounting, as they say. I'd rather have a black velvet Elvis myself; that could be cut out of the frame and be used to clean up cat mess and the Mexican frame recycled to hold something less hideous. Fired clay? I guess you could smash it into drainage bits for the bottom of a flower pot.
