    Hello all.

I've recently come into possession of some various porcelain and glass from my grandparents estate. I was hoping someone would be able to provide me with more information on the pieces and some idea of value for insurance purpose.

The first is four small Staffordshire Newhall plates, the second is four Royal Grafton plate, thirdly there are five trivets by H & R Johnson ltd, and lastly there is a small collection of Israeli glass.

I would appreciate any help in getting more info and a value for these items as I haven't been able to find them online.

    Thank you very much.

The Newhall are very modern and almost worthless I'm afraid. I'd expect to see them on sale as a set for a few dollars at a car boot sale. Same with the Grafton. The trivets are place mats or teapot stands. Again, of little value. None of the china is more than, oh, twenty years old or so.

Thank you both for your help. I'm also in possession of a 12 piece full set of Royal Worcester Pallisey game bird series China. At least I know that it should be insured and I don't have to worry about the rest. Although I've only found full sets on sale in the EU so I'll have to convert it.

Thank you again for your help

You're very welcome! I'd use them and think of your grandparents. By the way, that pink glass vase is a hyacinth vase.

oh and what is a hyacinth vase? Silly question but is it for that specific type of flower or is it the name of the shape? All the glass I have from them is marked 'made in Israel'.

Not a silly question at all! They were and are used to grow hyacinths in water. Or other bulbs, sometimes. Fill vase with water, sit bulb on top and watch it go.
