    hello,

could anyone... guess ....what the signature might be, on this small painting; making the signature extra small...
The painting is 9 by 14 cm, the signature 1 cm....

Pretty sure I'm seeing a printed dot pattern for instance on image number 6. Unless that's just the texture of canvas board but it really looks like an offset litho print dot pattern to me.

Also my idea at one moment, but I think it is the structure of paper it is painted on...showed by blowing up the view...
The wave is definitely painted, and there is a glaze crack over the whole painting...

Can you try a more close-up of signature?

I am seeing the dot pattern as well. It could have been varnished.
First name looks like Edwin, below that looks like 'original' which could be from a number of languages. Date 1918?

I got like 30 pics, but the ones I am showing here really are the best.
I used a magnifier, my macro and macro +...

Yes, if the signature is only 1 cm, this is already a great result.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I was wondering if the first word was "Brig" but I see that a brig has two square-rigged masts instead of three.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I do see 1918, and 'Original', but making out that artist is a conundrum!!!! Last name maybe 'Ki-something???

I agree on the word "original"!
And on the fact that the name is hard to read.
I spot like a umlaut in the last part....
    Thanks for the help.

But it probably is a print, that have been worked up with paint, to make it look like a painting.
That was my first idea too, started to doubt later on,...and generally the first impression; is the right one....
