Hi folks! Brand new here. I was hoping that someone might help me with identifying the markings on china saucer. It appears to be a simple gold rose, along with some sort of serializing number in blue.
Also if anyone happens to know french, I'd love to know the translation of the inscription.
    Thanks so much!

Thank you so much, you answered everything!
There's one thing I'm not sure of though -- the lower portion of the identification in blue is the artist initials - "JLS" - but JLS is not listed among the artist's initials that are associated with the brand. A tantalizing new mystery. :) I've looked about and seen some others from the 1950's with the JLS mark, but none of the sites are saying who exactly it was. I'll have to look around more.
    Thanks again!

Welcome. I'm no china expert, but the French wasn't particularly difficult, and I can Google. ;-)

LOL I actually was having trouble deciphering the writing, you're right, of course. The inscription reads:

"Drawn and painted entirely hand-painted by Le Tallec in Paris" ...which you already told me! :) Still wondering who JLS is...

That's a decorator mark. Le Tallec did not manufacture the porcelain, but decorated a blank manufactured by someone else. If you look closely at that gilded rose, you will see traces of the printed name it covers. It's not important, just FYI.

It looks like green writing. Thanks for that tip!
