Hi, new to the forum and looking to learn about this piece of furniture we just purchased! We don't know much about antiques and furniture just yet but google helped us learn some details. What we think we know is tiger oak wood , serpentine shape front, hand sawn dove tails?, claw feet, half mortise locks, and its pretty heavy! Could not find any markings anywhere.

Thank you in advance for any insight on what we bought! 20200713_212402.jpg 20200713_212428.jpg 20200713_212312.jpg 20200713_212133.jpg Screenshot_20200713-212043_Gallery.jpg

That looks like 1890s quarter-sawn oak. Beyond that...dunno.

Golden Age of Oak, 1890-1920, serpentine dresser with quarter-sawn oak veneer applied to pine/poplar case.

Machine-made dovetails. Date about 1900. Beautiful grain.

Agree with the others so not much to add. Likely American. Refinished and I see you have some hardware to find. Machine cut dovetails

    The feet are unusual. :)
I don’t know much about furniture, but I don’t remember seeing this type of foot.

It's called a Paw Foot and quite common on craved antique furniture.

In UK we call it Tiger Stripe oak. Does that help?

A good time span as this type of furniture was pumped out across the US during that time by Sears Roebuck and similar.

I’ve seen claw feet, I meant it looks like some unusual animal. Not a typical claw or paw. Like a three toed camel.

LOL @ camel! Thinks it's supposed to be "beast feet" popular with Empire furniture however, some manufacturers had better carving machines than others, obviously. :hilarious:
