I bought this for only $200 from a friend whose antique shop is going out of business.
It is big (53" tall), heavy and shocking (to me) - anatomically correct. Then when I got over that, I realized that the … mound at his feet is the headless, armless & legless body of the head he is holding high in the air!

Was this for tourist?? Or do I have a real tribal piece?
Where is it from? (My friend told me Hawaii, but I couldn't find anything about Hawaiian head hunters).
    Age?
Finally any thoughts / info on it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    ******** BE WARNED!! *********

BELOW IS THE ANATOMICALLY CORRECT CARVING OF THIS STATUE! THIS IS WHAT MAKES ME THINK THIS IS REAL & NOT A TOURIST PIECE (ALSO, MY FRIEND SAID HE ADDED THE CLOTH - IT DID NOT COME WITH IT!)

Then again, taking a clue from friend's antique store closing - maybe enjoy while you can!

We've lost a LOT of thrifts here, stores I had no idea were even considering closing...

    Hi,
I think it is newer than old. If old I would expect it to be uncircumcised unless there is a tribe that is Jewish in the Philippines.

I would think tourist or decorative. Maybe was in a shop?

Based on the cap he is wearing, I think Igorot, Philippines. They were historically headhunters. Probably made for sale - not a traditional piece.

    Thanks for the tip 2manybooks.
I want to sell it on eBay but it is REALLY heavy; close to 75 lbs I'd guess from how my back felt when I moved it!

If I can't make more than the $200 I paid for this, I'm in the wrong business!
