Featured Info on this clock will be appreciated

I ran into this German carriage clock ensembled in a wooden case. The movement was made by Lenzkirch Uhrenfabrik (which manufactured clocks from 1860 to 1932) and the dial is signed by Carl Hiess (1850–1899). I have never seen a carriage clock in a wooden case. Would you say this is an original assemblage or an adaptation? Any idea of approximate manufacturing date? Should I go for it? Will appreciate your views!

 

from the look, I'd have no reason to think it wasn't factory made.
I might though...expect to see some marking on the wood itself..

Carl Hiess is the specialty retailer..... looks like they likely made the case. Much like Tiffany clocks or Baily Banks and Biddle clocks seen ca. 1900, they did not make the movement. Lenzkirch was a very good quality clock maker, a definite cut above companies like Junghans. You can trace down Lenzkirch movement dates from the number on it's back plate.
