Can anyone tell me anything about this statue?
Especially, how old it is, what it's made of (look at the different colors in photo of botyom/inside it)and who the deity is (and are those pine cones? corn? around it's gead?)
I did a google ai image search asking what it was & what it was made of - and got Buddha & Jambaha + wood or bronze - so obviously human knowledge is still king!
    PS - it measures 7' tall x 4.5" wide
Thank you & Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Nice find, journey. He is a bronze Buddha from Burma/Myanmar. I don't see any wood. He was made in the early-mid 19th century imo.

This position is called Bhumisparsha mudra, which means he is calling upon the earth to testify that he is enlightened. That is why his fingers are touching the ground.

Asian bronze is not the same alloy as our bronze. To many metals experts in the West this would probably be closer to brass, but in Asian antiques terms it is bronze.;)
