Information on Lennox leather & Suede purse.

Hi all, i've never bought purses before but this intrigued me.
And it was only $5. The tag reads Deliso Debs By Lennox
it is 8" x 5 1/2" x 4". I think it is leather and grey suede?
I thought I would check here and see if it is vintage and how old?

DeLiso Debs was a popular shoe line in its day. It was owned by Lennox Manufacturing Company of St. Louis, MO. Their DeLiso Debs handbag trademark ran from e/o World War II into the 1980s. (Apparently, the company also marketed handbags under the Lennox name.)

If I had to guess, I'd think late 1950s/early 1960s. Likely had matching shoes.

Agree on the age, early 60s from what I remember. My mother had something of the sort. Guess I would just call it a box purse. Maybe there's a fancier, fashion world name.

 

Box purse. And thank you, Bronwen, for confirming date. I think very collectible now. Can never go wrong with black and gray. And style was as fashion-forward then as it is now.

That was one reason I asked age because it is so clean and showing very little wear.

Agree with everything posted and started laughing as my first heels which were short stilettos were DeLiso Debs-white pointy things in 1962. Only thing I can add is that it has a ball catch lock.

 

Thanks, reader. New term for me. Looks like a bit of wear to metal. But minor "flaws" to be expected with vintage.

Definitely. Anything give or take 60 years old
has to show some honest wear. That bag is in amazing shape. The Debs line was created for the “younger” fashionista of the day. I haven’t thought of those little stilettos of mine in decades.

 

You can also mention the wonderful quilted lining under the lid.

If it were mine... I'd do an auction because I'd anticipate interest from more than one bidder. (That said, I'd start at selling price I was happy with.)
