Inlaid Wooden Wall Plaque with White Elephants - help with signature

Thanks in advance for any info....I come up with a different last name every time I look at this, and can't find any info on any of them. Also, what might the elephants be made out of? Some similar on the internet. About 10" x 14.5" x 0.5". Some issues with fine scratches and cracks. Probably just a another family "trinket," but thought I'd ask. Thanks again.

 

Could be from a kit "Marquetry Inlay/Onlay Kit",the instructions and patterns have been in woodworking magazines for a hundred years or more.

 

Thank you. The "By" sort of told me that might be the case, but here to learn. I'm pretty good at identifying "junk" and "pretty good", since I grew up with an avid collector and can do a little "novice" research. It's all the in-between things that give me pause.
