    Hi,
    I picked this up on the weekend and trying to figure it out.
    The ring is marked 10K Charme and I can't figure the other mark out - could be HR or IR.
    I don't believe the locket part is gold and wonder if this was added to the ring at a later date. Looks like there were initials on the back of the locket but the gold has been rubbed off so I can't make them out. This is 1/2" x 3/4". I have found a couple of other pieces that are marked Charme, they are gold filled but no information on the company
    Any information appreciated.
    Thanks for looking.

    I thought the glass was black but when held to the light it is red/orange colour - maybe this isn't glass but a stone?

    I didn't have any luck finding Charme either.

    This is not normal wear.

    This is what it looks like after someone who doesn't care about older jewelry is acid testing for gold.
    Shows that the locket is plated. That could have been determined by looking at the hinge.

    As for the ring
    The black stones were usually onyx. This looks more porous so I don't think so.
    Maybe @Hollyblue will see this and comment.

    Appears to have been repaired with lead solder

    Sorry not much help.

    I agree it probably is a mourning piece......but many times people call them poison rings, just because it opens to hold things. you might try that angle.

    A good large photo of the "stone" could help.

    Thanks for the replies folks!
    Yes, these isn't any information out there on them, thanks for looking cluttered!
    I noticed the joint and wondered if it was repaired or someone just attached this to the ring - I don't think they started out life together. It is shame if it was from someone testing that removed the initials.
    Do you think this is a warrior or solider?
    Poison ring - I'll have to look those up, thanks for that term bdigger!
    @Hollyblue is this one better?

    It could have held solid perfume, more plausible than poison ;)

    Or a lock of hair.

    @cxgirl

    In the photo from the ebay page you provided, see how the jump ring is attached at the hinge?
    Can you find evidence that there was a ring attached to the hinge of your locket?

    Thanks Marie!
    Thanks cluttered! No, doesn't look like anything was there. There is the hinge on one end and the little button on the other.
