Picked up a pair of bowls I had never seen before at an estate sale yesterday. They were hiding in a box under a table. Hard to say what we paid for them as the estate sale organizer looked at the several boxes of stuff we had and came up with a low number. Any assistance on this one would be appreciated. This is the smaller bowl and measures 6 3/8 inches across. IMG_7209.jpg IMG_7210.jpg

I wonder if this is a dessert bowl where you would put ladyfingers into the sides and then fill with other creams or goodies. BWDIK.

This is a well known EAPG line, wait for TallCakes to come by. No, I can't remember it's name.

it's the 'Retort' pattern #77 or #77D from the Dalzell, Gilmore and Leighton Glass factory which became part of the National Combine. So some resources say DGL and others say National; c1899/1900

Thanks TallCakes. Looks like we have a winner. Not bad for 50 cents each.

OMN on cake stand is noted as Garland based on appearance in Montgomery Ward 1891-92 catalog; unknown maker; AKA of Festoon

Thanks. I did a bit of research on the pattern and came up with a Yahoo image search that yielded this:

EAPG "Festoon" pattern cake stand made by Portland Glass circa 1885, Beatty-Brady Co. 1889-1900, 9.25"D x 6.25"H.

Has a little bit of age to it.

unfortunately Portland went out of business c1873 and Beady, Brady didn't come until 1895; this would seem to exclude those makers...
