    Hi folks

found this interesting looking pottery shard on a beach walk/comb

reminded me of a small dog or lamb (though obviously not meant to be originally)

its gotta be from a proper piece of pottery by that glaze on it, but must have been VERY thick

any ideas out of interest ?

Are you sure its not a glazed brick with frieze pattern.
Looks a bit like the Greek Evil Eye to me.

I think it's a natural rock- did Google Lens on the last pix and get a lot of similar hits eg:

The blue glaze is on the surface of the shard, so it isn't lapis or some other blue stone inclusion.

Rotated this way it rather does look like the face of an animal. I'd guess cow or bull perhaps? There have been so many made, in Delft or delftware, Staffordshire, garden ware etc. Maybe even Mexican or Spanish

The back side looks quite irregular, not what I would expect for a piece of crockery. Perhaps it is a fragment of wall plaster with a painted/fresco decoration.
