Interesting stool need help identifying

We recently acquired this wonderful table. I think its from the 1930's and possibly austrian. What do you think?

Imagine my dismay after reading what promised to be an "interesting" title to find what appears to be a pedestal plant stand......................though it IS interesting in itself.

 

It is interesting and I think you are probably on the right track. Probably European and maybe more 20s than 30s. Seems to be Secessionist which bridges both the Arts and Crafts movement and the art deco style. Hard to say it is Austrian. Could be Germany, Hungary, Belgium, etc. Similar to the work of Josef Hoffmann.

 

Found this table attributed to Hoffman that is very similar. For what it is worth, I don't think your table to be a Hoffmann design but you can certainly see the inspiration. Brass or copper top tables like yours were marketed as smoking stands and were fairly ubiquitous, being found in numerous configurations.

 

It is indeed very similar in style and making. And your right it is probably a Vienna Secessionist pedestal that was manufactured around the 1920's. Thank you for that bit of insight and taking the time to answer! Much appreciated
