    Selling this for a neighbor.

Once again a neighbor surprised me (remember the "grandma's old glass set" that turned out to be that stunning Kralik?)

A different neighbor called and said they had some "Southwestern piece" that maybe I would want to sell on Ebay. I asked "What is it?" and they said, "A chandelier."

Honestly could not picture what a southwestern chandelier might look like, I was already for something completely different:

The way the arms attach is convenient for shipping. They just rest in these openings:

Any key words? Would I call this "hand forged"? Also any guess on the maker?

    Has anyone seen similar?

    I'd call it both.
Some may not be familiar with one or the other.

I THINK this might be a newish piece , I remember seeing ones like it in décor mags . When selling it do mention the Swedish angle . Id buy it in a second , I love wrought iron.

Yeah, I wouldn't limit it or risk not getting pings by labeling it Southwestern... it's much more flexible and wide-appeal! Scandinavian... maybe!

    EDIT
    Widely appealing! :writer:

Most likely mild steel, from the looks of the weld. Still, it is iron which has been wrought. In modern use it should be OK to call it so.

I don't think there is any true wrought iron being made commercially anymore. OTOH, maybe there is a boutique foundry in Sweden. Their iron-making goes back something like 2500 years.

I used to cut up old wrought iron wagon wheel 'tires' and such to sell to modern blacksmiths. It's wonderful stuff to work with.

    Your chandelier is really sweet.

Lucille, could I have your thoughts on shipping this item? I'm guessing it weighs a lot, and I'm curious about your considerations as far as starting bid, any reserve, and if you're hoping to defray shipping costs in the bids, or if you're just gonna ask for the whole shipping costs separately?

    Thanks all.

Definitely not listing as Southwestern.... "Made in Sweden" is much better!

As far as age, I think no later than 1970's. Honestly, it could even be 50's or earlier. I'm not sure when Sweden started putting things like this out. It belonged to a 90 year old aunt who hadn't been buying new things for some time. She was a fantastic artist by the way, and had some cool older stuff.

As far as shipping, all of the pieces come out, so they can be individually wrapped, I'm guessing it weighs around 15 lbs unboxed, maybe a bit more. The shipping cost will definitely be separate.

When searching on Google (or Ebay) I learned a tip once, if you put quotation marks around a phrase, it will only give matches with the phrase in that exact order. So just tried it on google and searched:

"made in Sweden X" wrought iron

The search found another iron piece with the same signature on Etsy, Made in Sweden X with a number after it. Not the same piece, but same flavor and the same stamp with a different number, also in the 600's. Already sold, but pics are still up. Scroll about half way down the page to see it.

There are still some doing this. Not many, at least compared to the past.

Did you see that it sold for $2000 + shipping!

The one you're holding is sooooo much nicer! (in my opinion) :)

Quirkygirl, where did you see that? I didn't see anything on the Etsy site but could have missed it. (I'm not a member, so wasn't signed in.) Let me know. Thanks so much!!
