5B702799-0855-41BA-944E-BE9AF1518125.jpeg Some details in the photo don’t seem to fit with the title. The fellows shown have anchors on their uniforms. On left, the man is using a Bren light machine gun, to my knowledge not used by US troops; doesn’t even use the same rifle ammo as US did. Man on right has a US M1903 rifle, then obsolete among US Army troops in Europe except for the sniper version, which that is not. What is correct caption, please?

Senegalese troopers fighting with whatever equipment they could scrounge? Sounds about right.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The more often an image is copied and recopied, the more likely it is to have incorrect information attached. But you already knew this... or you wouldn't have asked!

The photo appears a little over 1/3 of the way down this page in German:
    https://historisches-museum-frankfurt.de/de/archiv2011-13

Copyright on the photo caption is assigned to S.I.R.P.A. -- I like this Frankfurt Museum site because they state who has the copyright for each image.

EDIT: I just figured out from an online abbreviations dictionary that the initials probably refer to "Service d'Informations et de Relations Publiques des Armées" (French: Department of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces)
