IMG_3112.jpg Wh IMG_3113.jpg ile the leather 4 Fold pouch is for jewelry I think it was intended for these 4 pairs of pins.
Anybody know about the history of either?

please take the pins out a photo them in a line , front and back.
We have Navy here who can 'pin them down' .....hahahaha!!!!!
& others for the airforce pins....
The leather could have been made to hold one medal..

No clue about the box, but you scored with the pins! They're a mix of Navy, Blue Star Mother (of son in the service) and Army Air Corps. I've never seen the Navy one before.

THe "case" was pretty standard for Fraternity and Sorority pins back in the day.......and NO, I will NOT tell you WHAT "day". Suffice it to say that I think they went out of fashion after WWII...........

    I'm here. :)
    Nice to be missed.
If those are truly of age I doubt they were ever worn.
I'm not so sure the 'white hat' / 'Dixie cup' is old at all and the family person in service star may not be either.
The Air Corps is odd in that I doubt anyone's bothered to reproduce it but not sure.
I'd be interested in the Navy ones and possibly the blue star.

These were called WWII sweetheart jewelry though certainly not always worn by sweethearts. Mothers and female relatives worn them also. A blue star meant 1 family member serving, while 2, 3, etc... meant multiple sons serving. Silver star meant wounded in action and a gold star killed in action. Each branch of service had their own device - the attached insignias. Don't believe the case had anything to do with these pins. It was just a convenient case to hold them. None of these would have come in such a leather case.

Sorry, I assumed literally everyone knew of 'sweetheart jewelry'. :p
I just looked in my '95 edition of Schiffer's - 'Sweetheart Jewelry and Collectibles' none of these exact pins are in there.

I don't have anything from family service like that but for my own.
I only have those of others.

My Dad had several little leather "cases" like the one shown. He kept sets of formal wear shirt studs in them. Whether the sets actually came in those cases, I have no idea.

Here are close-ups, edited versions, of the markings on the inside and on the outside of the leather case. The inside seems to have an impression of a trademark for a "K Co" in a shield. The outside has a name or description and a patent number: "4 Fold" and "Pat.8.23." Gee, I haven't a clue as to a patent number like that - probably a design patent number of some type? Looks like possibly a mark above the line above "4 Fold?" Maybe someone will recognize the trademark???

Here is a leather case presumably stamped with "4 Fold Pat. 8.23" that has a cameo in it. The owner is dating it to 1923. How they came up with 1923, I don't know. Description of the imprint:
"Embossed in a corner on the Plain side is: "4 Fold Pat. 8.23."

    https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vint-vintage-unset-carved-shell-cameo-in-pat-1923

and another one in white leather that contained baby rings sold by the Altemueller Jewelry Co. of Washington, MO in the 1920s :

and yet another with sweetheart pin:

andddd another actually in the Canadian War Museum by the C.R. Sunner & Sons Ltd!! Honestly just a white case with nothing in it.

Here is a listing of US patent numbers with years:
    https://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/ac/ido/oeip/taf/issuyear.htm

Sooo appears to be a generic leather case sold to many jewelers in black, brown, white, etc...

Nice pins, but don't think they came with the case. I'm with KoT - I'd never seen the one with the Dixie cup hat before.
