Featured Is this a kitchen canister or tobacco container?

    This canister is unmarked and 7" tall. Does anyone know anything about it?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Tobacco jars usually have a weighted cover, that may or may not be the lid, to press down on the tobacco as it is used. This helps to keep it fresh. Therefore they are usually cylindrical not bulbous.

    looks like an Asian jar that could have been used to store anything from biscuits to opium.
