    Hello
Here is another piece from my grandmothers house in California, she did travel all over the world so I am not sure if she bought when she was in China or not. I was wondering if it is a real Tang horse? Any and all info is much appreciated, thank you as always in advance :) . The dimensions are 8" x 8" x 3"

"Real" standing horses date to the Tang era (618–907 C.E.) Yours would best be described as "Tang manner" or "Tang style" as likely it doesn't date to that period.

Ceramic standing horses were already made long before the Tang dynasty (618-907), but this one is a 20th century replica of a Tang dynasty horse.
It is decorated with 'sancai' or three-colour glaze.
It is lovely, I always like them, most people do.:)

These are ceramic horses from the 3rd century BC, in front of a bronze carriage in the Qin emperor burial site:

There were a total of 670 terracotta horses buried along with the famous terracotta army.

Tang San Cai horse reproduction made for the tourist market. Millions of them around. If you like it, keep it. If you want to sell it, anything more than $5 is a good deal.

    San Cai = three colors

No need to be sorry, Jaybee. And like komo said, it is good to have more people agreeing on something, at least we all know it is right.:D

    Hi,
I bought several dozen back in the early 1980s that were pure white plaster. I painted them with the three colors. Sold them all in two weeks. They made wonderful accent pieces.

Hi. New here. I resell vintage/antiques. I have 2 sancai horses but am a bit confused by their differences. I’m sure they are newer but figured I’d better check to learn more before reselling. 1 is white inside & other is dark. Dark one has damage to head. 1st one has a very soft feel, & dark (inside) one is sharper in spots. I’ve read how to tell if they are ancient but I highly doubt these are. When I wet the 1 w/damage the “clay” stats white. Other 1 is mounted on stand stamped with “30” so clearly if stand is a sold as horse then it’s very modern. Glazing cracked on both. Just trying to figure out what they’re worth. Thx!

Welcome, EmK! Bigger pictures are really helpful. Here’s an image with the “full image” option circled in red - I hope it helps you get some info!
