Is This a Surgeons Tool...or What Else?

    It's chrome-plated cast-iron; 7" long, 8 1/4 ounces.
    Why would a surgeon need a claw hammer? I am sure I'm missing something important here. The crummy finish on the interior of the grip speaks against surgery use, as difficult if not impossible to sterilize. Help me understand this thing, please! The mark 'Germany' is the only text or logo on it. Thanks for lookin'!

    I believe this would be used for jewelry making, but that's just my WAG.

    Missing the inlay.:( Easier to hang on the wall of a toolshed though.;)
