    Hi,

These are small glasses so I was thinking they would be for liqueur or sherry? What are your thoughts on that? Only approx 2" wide I am thinking this set is old enough to be antique and probably missing a stopper Do you think it is Italian?

Any help is very much appreciated Thank you and I hope you can make sun fun for your weekend!

    No
I think it is American. I've seen that rose etch. Having trouble remembering.

    1940s/50s would be my guess
You might find it here https://chataboutdg.com/gallery/
I have the worst time using this data base.

Fry was a high end glass company.
Your set is nice, but I would be surprised if it is theirs.

Also, Fostoria called this needle etched.

Yeah, it was only the leaves that looked the same on the DE 51 etch The flowers are way off

Strike 2, I didn't see anything in Fostoria just yet but hunting for this pattern lead me to discover something else I had been trying to find! A win at any rate.

    ;)

It may be "Needle Etched" but the needle was hand directed, not machine directed. "Needle Etched" generally implies a geometric design. The design above may have been a plate etching.

Definitely 1950ish. And someone's wedding gift. Likely unused but displayed proudly.

Also this decanter does not take a stopper. Decant it and drink it ie airiate the wine.

What would this set be for? Glasses seem too tall for my idea of my idea of a liqueur glass, but GG says the bowls seem small for wine.

Sherry as suggested would be a good guess.

I suspect those are meant to be wine glasses. Beverage portions, like all others, were smaller in the 1950s and people less sophisticated about wine.

My parents' first wine glasses (probably purchased in the early 50's but kept until we moved Mom into assisted living in 2011) didn't have the tall stem, but had bowl about the same as these. 3 decent swallows. :hilarious:

Hard to imagine but... The average person in the 1950s didn't drink a lot of wine.
