Is this antique hooked rug made from a kit? What would you call this pattern?

A couple months ago, I posted a small wool hooked rug (on the AB I guess) - 6rivets said it was probably made from a kit in the late 1800s. Is this one likely made from a kit also? What would you call this pattern? TIA

Nope, this one's the sort that was made from scratch - sort of the rug version of the "string" quilt. You just take something circular, like a plate or a tin can, and trace it, and there's your pattern. And look, it's done with fabric strips, not yarn! From the fabrics esp that hot pink, I'm thinking 1940s. The damage should easily be repaired, and the design is great. Nice find!

Oh, what would I call the design? "Original op-art waves"?

I'd hate to encounter that after a long evening at the local pub! LOL!

"Undulating" comes to mind and has a certain "ring" to it . . . but is that the "ring" you want? :wideyed:

About the only time I use that word is when I refer to myself as an undulating termite queen - which is fairly often, now that I think about it. :bigtears:

Bookahtoo, Bdigger has a better suggestion.

I'm still stuck on the poetic/literary meaning of "undulating" from days of old(e). :shame:

I'm wondering if one can sell BC bud wholesale to the states that sell it legally...not that I would, just thinking hypothetically, LOL!

There's the whole "selling across State/Country lines" things though. :beaver:

Is there a beaver smiley? :beaver: Oh there is! How on earth did I miss that?

What I'm thinking is that when we legislate marijuana use here (and I sincerely hope we won't take too long about it) and with the free trade act (NAFTA) just think of the money our govts. can collect! :beaver::beaver::beaver:

Taxed at source, not at the border, of course!

You are much closer to Washington state too, and I hear they are already running out. :nailbiting: :D

Ah, could increase border traffic TO BC rather than AWAY from it, LOL!

Sorry for being so OT...dunno how I got sidetracked...

Well, watching episodes of Border Security, I would think that presently they wouldn't be too kind about it! ;)
