Morning all. Don't buy a lot of books unless they have a provenance of some sort. Ummed and aahhed with this one but bought it anyway wasn't going to buy it for 20 but they sold it for me for 10.
The main reason was the inside cover. This was presented by sir john monash back in 1920 and has a scotch college stamp on the front. Leathere's bound, has issues especially that bloody texta on the front. Also front and back cover has come off and a lot of wear on spine. Question is is it worth getting repaired or can it be repaired. Has some nice detail on it. Welcome opinions. Without doing any research on the book itself, my immediate answer would be no. The only selling point I see here are the color plates, if there are more. Print dealers buy things like this to cannibalize for the illustrations if they are interesting/attractive/by a well-known artist.

An award. Who knows how many were given out that year or in years before & after? Not actually signed by Monash, so not for autograph hunters.

Wish someone would recognize me for 'general excellence.'

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

You could try doing research on the recipient just in case he/she later became "somebody." Otherwise, I agree with Bronwen. (And I also did no research on the book itself.)

From what we can see of the illustrations, they’re very nice. :artist:
