Is This Chinese or Japanese Writing?

Can anyone tell me if the writing on this vintage bamboo purse is Chinese or Japanese, and, if possible, what it says?

this one says 50's Japanese................but I haven't carried a purse since the 80's... and it was leather.....so...WDIK ??

 

I finally found a purse online with the same wider slat with the word "Taiwan" and some other text painted on the wider front slat, so I'm going to assume mine was made in Taiwan. I thought it might be from Japan because I read that Chinese characters are more square/blockish and Japanese characters are more "airy."

 

I looked at these earlier and couldn't find a definitive answer.

If you Google bamboo slat purse, you will find them made in a variety of places. I will say, the handles on the Chinese ones looked closer to yours than the Japanese.
