Featured Is this potter tray Royal Doulton or??

This hand decorated tray has the decorators initial and a stamp that I think is Doulton Jerusalem . Any information appreciated.

 

It would read Doulton Burslem.

Doulton dish, but hobby painted. Pretty.

 

Pottery is not my area so why do you say hobby painted? Does the painting go back to the 1882-91 time of the mark? Did I date the mark properly?

 

Dating is spot on. I think hobby painted because of that gold tube lining - it's not typical of Doulton but more of hobbyists. It could well be the same sort of time.

 

There is what looks to me like a decorators initials and/or mark shown in the 2nd picture. Is it possible that the hobbyest added the gold to a Doulton decoration? The tray does not appear to have been used.

 

Yes, I thought that a decorator's mark, too. I think it's entirely possible that the hobby painter added the tube lined gilding.
