    Hi all,
    asking for a friend, she is looking to buy it. these are the photos she sent, marked 925 and 2 sapphires on either side. this is on a local site, the seller says it is a natural opal. I wouldn't know one if I fell over it, hope the photos will tell the story if real or not.
    what do you think?
    any information appreciated.
    thanks for looking:)

    The photo of the stone is too small,the base color looks purple..not an opal color.

    Only from the pics... It is doubtful:cyclops:
    As Holyblue pointed it, the body color is wrong.
    Doublets or triplets could be called natural opal... Natural SOLID opal is another matter:)

    thanks folks for the replies:) this person continually sells jewelry for very cheap, lots of turquoise that even I'm sure isn't real, so I suspect this wouldn't be real either. I don't understand why people will buy this stuff - my friend was thinking it wasn't real but then was thinking what if it is real and I could buy it for $5.00? I just give my head a shake.
    Thanks again:)

    We all hope to get a real deal for 5 bucks........
    but you can't chase every 5 dollar item that comes along...or you'll lose all your $5 bills !!
    :playful::eek:

    Well, if set in sterling and if a Gilson opal, not bad for $5.

    I beg leave to doubt it's natural, but a decent synthetic would be worth the five bucks.
