I bought a damaged cream jug this morning. The mark made me think Meissen, but if it's one mark you can never quite believe....
Rontgen does show Meissen marks with a six pointed star as yours. They date the mark 1774-1814. Whether this is actually one of those marks, I can't say, but but looks promising.
I swear i picked up and put down some object with that hallmark today come to think of it! It appeared to be two blue arrows crossing to my quick glance though
Meissen is a place, so there was more than one Meissen porcelain factory. When people see the crossed swords, they think the Royal Porcelain Manufactory. When the name is spelled out, and there aren't any swords, then someone else.
I have a hunch the decoration on this creamer would be termed Indianische blumen, but don't quote me on that.
Thanks for the confirmation. The mark is blue and under the glaze, and painted on by hand. I had a feeling this was old, but over 200...oops. Paid a whole dollar for it, but the spout has been off. There's a lot more of this about than you'd think, most likely. It's not the oldest thing I've ever bought by a long chalk, but it's the oldest piece of ceramic.
