I would like to know something about this Islamic copper tobacco jar. It's 7" in height. Islam Tobac Jar 2.JPG Islam Tobac Jar 1.JPG DSC01672.JPG DSC01673.JPG

I do not see anything Islamic. the interpretation of the grip as a crescent moon seems to be far-fetched. it looks like an ordinary container most probably continental; Jugendstil and German would be my guess.

Agree, it could be German Jugendstil, with those bold lines. I don't see any Islamic imagery. The finial isn't crescent shaped in the Islamic sense.

The puffed lid reminds me of the lid on this 'stein', made in Königsberg (Kaliningrad), which used to have a dominant German culture:

Thank you fid, this set has the lid very similar to my tobacco pot lid. Where did you get these pictures?

this is from Gerhardi in Lüdenscheid, Germany. they mostly worked in pewter and had many well-known Jugendstil designers working for them. Albin Müller, Albert Reimann, the whole bunch from Darmstadt etc. .
popped up when I was researching something on G°°gle.
