Italian Madonna - what material is it?

    This came from a local Estate Sale. Measures about 3" by 5". At first I thought it was resin but they told me it was Ivory. Is it carved? Can anyone enlighten me? ivory madonna 002.JPG

    I would guess carved alabaster stone, like the Italy lamps.

    I don't see any ivory there.....but I can hear some estate sellers who deserve a swift kick.........!

    Thanks to all of you. Yes, it is alabaster. I knew it was not ivory.
    The sale was advertised as a garage sale. An older man was selling his late wife's things. I really don't think he knew what it was.

    It looks more like cultured marble to me...... basically, marble dust and resin.
