It has a very ancient feel to it. The decoration is crude. The pottery is thick and heavy (it is almost double the weight of a late 19th c Deruta plate of similar size ) .

    Any thoughts?

I think oldish, but definitely not old old

Doesn't look right at all for serious age, colours look wrong, as does figure, just too unconsidered and sloppy

Maybe an oldish reproduction of something else

I sure miss Walter. Not only was he a lovely gentleman but his knowledge of Italian pottery was extraordinary!

I, sadly, know very little about Italian pottery so this is just as an observation. I have an old French Rouen cul noir (black bottom) platter that looks extremely old but I believe it to be 19th C. The extra thick glaze and the craqueleur are quite similar to yours, minus the black of course. I'm not so much thinking it's French but more about the possible age.

    I certainly don't know.

I just showed it to an expert who deemed it to be 19th century. So it's not ancient. Never mind.

Well that’s surprising to me. Was really thinking older. Very good call @charlie cheswick
