Unless the bottom is extremely worn, it does not look like majolica.

The technique for creating the pot is known as “Sgraffito” or "Scratch” in English. The design was carved into the semi-wet clay before it was fired in the kiln. It was popular in the 1920’s and 1930’s in pottery-making towns around Deruta and Montelupo. This piece lacks a maker’s mark.

careful with the worn bottom, an old technique used by scammers in Britain is to wet th bottom then rub it over a dirty stone surface over and over, so a worn bottom could have been done yesterday , RL.

I'd throw a plant in it.:) A StPaulia (african violet) would be appropriate, or some other houseplant.
