Hi all what do people think this is heavy brass I believe 100mm long. My belief is a paper weight and storage for paper clips maybe but what do I know cheers chris 15034850896841.jpg 15034850757150.jpg

    Hi Chris,
I had a similar one several years ago(30). I used to hold a Brillo pad at the kitchen sink. I have no idea what it was used for originally.

It may not be solid brass so you may not want to polish it until you're sure.

It could be a brass wash on spelter. I'd scratch-test it in an inconspicuous spot.

First thing, try a magnet. If it sticks, it's brass colored with iron/nickel underneath. No stick = made of something else. That's always the first test however since it's nondestructive.

After u polish it find a pair of red rhinestones that fit the eye holes and glue them in, making yours unique. Post pic of completed object here.

I've also seen these used in kitchens for sponges or scrubbing pads.
