Some pictures of the affish stuff at an antiques fair. The creepy old man who seems to have stolen my brain is a deterrent to sales, so Janet actually sells stuff, the old man is hidden under the stall with a bag over his head.

We got extra space in the first pic when the next door stall holder failed to arrive, from here to the end is not bad for one space paid for.

Does anyone want to share their retail environments?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

You got a good deal on the space. How were sales? Or is it still going? I like the look of the green mantle clock.

That was at Builth Wells in Wales, last year. Sales are always good because we don't try to get every last penny from them.

Afantiques, I am curious about the book (or is it a photograph album or scrapbook?) atop a stack of books just below the table where the lady is standing. It looks like it has a lovely front cover.

I imagine it sold at that sale, but do you happen to remember what it was?

I love that clock as well. It looks as if you have many nice and interesting items for sale. Ahh, Wales and good shopping... That's the stuff my dreams are made of. :woot:

This is great to see! :)
Though all is interesting I was curious about the framed item on the chair. Is it embroidered and even if not, what is it please?

Very nice clocks. Is that a tortoise shell garniture on the top shelf? And what is that adding-thingy machine? Hope you make some great sales!

I have tried selling in person here in the states, but do not find it enjoyable at all. The other dealers always come by to tell me my stuff is priced too low and many of the customers try to intimidate, demean, and confuse me to sell it for much lower. I am just not a good salesperson, don't like the pressure of it or the "dickering". Online sales are easier in that respect. Plus, I don't spend all my profits buying things from the other sellers. ;)

The other dealers don't tell me stuff is priced too low, they just buy it. That's fine with me. I cant really say I have noticed anything but reasonably polite buyers, no demeaning or confusing anyway. I probably confuse them more often.

I find it a jolly social occasion for chatting to other dealers and whoever comes along. We usually sold about 2/3 by value of the stuff taken, we'd take the leftovers to a flea market later at reduced prices.

To answer a few other points, the book was a fancy CdV album. The framed item is a very large sampler, about twice the size of the usual sampler. The clock garniture is wood with a (I assume 'faux') tortoiseshell veneer, French 1930 art deco.

Not sure about the adding machine thing. I have some early machines, and also huge cylindrical slde rule but I can't see that.

I keep trying to empty the shed, but the recent hoard has set this ambition back quite a bit.

I rather like the clock with the hounds running over it.

Hmmm, I can now see one bloke in a shed.(LOL) And more than ever wish I was across the Pond with a fistfull of pound notes and an empty suitcase. I'd love to have gotten a gander at what was in that glass case.

    Thanks! :)

Well, what's in it now is what was in it at the end of that sale, because for one reason or another we have not done our usual 2 outings this year.

Shall I go and take a picture?

And since this is being read by the faithful, yesterday when I said something about when summer's over and work slows down, I'll be able to get back to buying & selling stuff, a friend said, "Don't you wish you had enough money to just buy the antiques and not have to worry about reselling?" With nose in air. She simply didn't get that the business itself of buying & selling is the attraction. How boring to buy something and leave it at that.
