    Laurie Baty here. Photo historian, mostly 19th century American. Museum director. Collector of good design--nambe, art glass, crystal, sterling, art pottery, MCM--in other words, just about everything if it's good design (shades of E. Kaufmann, jr's MoMA shoes of the 1950s). Very much wanting to help folks better understand what they have as I, too, often struggle with learning more.

    Holy cow, I didn't know the DEA had a museum, how interesting! (I am a VA healthcare worker and administer drugs.) I'd love to visit it if I'm ever in the vicinity. :)

    Just joined too, so wanted to say hello. I am steadily becoming obsessed with vintage and auction items - mainly jewellery (loving Victorian pieces!) - so thought I would like to find a place where I could see what other people collected and posted. I will also be needing some help with various bits and pieces - I love finding out the history of a piece online, but get very frustrated when I can't find much about an item.
