I've got this cast brass thing...what is it?

    This came in a box lot from an auction. I have no clue what it might be.

    One end unscrews and there's a hole in the other end. Any ideas?

    I walked away from it for a while and just looked at it again.

    I wonder if it's a pull for something. The screw on cap and hole in the other end allow you to put it on a string with a knot in the end. Then it could hang from something.
