Japanese aged vase

    Hi, I like this one, doesn't appear to be a modern piece.
    Any thoughts?

    Is that a hole in the bottom from a lamp base conversion? Or is that the painted mark?

    That appears to be a generic Kutani mark. Without "made in Japan" or similar it could very well be from before the mid-1920s when the US began requiring country of origin info on imports.

    As Bakersgma says, the mark reads Kutani. It's not an ancient piece and I agree that first quarter of the 20th century is about right.
