Featured Japanese Box Cloisonne Top

    Also, there seems to be a spot on the bottom for a mark but it’s blank.

    What is the size of your box?
    Lovely lid most likely original.

    Beautiful cloisonné, kard.
    It is different from your usual Japanese cloisonné boxes, but there is a rim around the top which was clearly meant to hold a panel, so it was probably meant to have the top it now has.
    Not unusual, but I don't know what it is for. My guess is for a retailer's mark. In this case the retailer wasn't interested.;)
